Introducing The Redemption Report

Two years and change to get this. Ridiculous!
I recently had an exchange on Twitter with @PaniniCSM and I have to say that it was the smoothest conversation I've ever had over a redemption card. It got me thinking about my outstanding redemption cards and how long some of them have taken, how some never get fulfilled with the proper card and how some appear in my mailbox just days after redeeming the code online or via mail.

I thought I'd add a lil' somethin' somethin' to this ole' blog of mine called the Redemption Report. It will focus on mail days, outstanding and ridiculous turnaround times. Of course I'll also note the good interactions I've had to get the cards I paid for, or got for review, that should have been in the box, but weren't.

The first card I will discuss is this 2008 Alexei Ramirez SPx Rookie Signatures card. It arrived via mail a few weeks back. The redemption card code was originally punched in on 1/3/2010. It was for a Mitchell Boggs SP Authentic Rookie Auto. I'll be honest, I had forgotten about it. It has become far too typical to have to wait nearly two years for a card that should have never been in the product in the first place. Imagine my surprise when this card of Alexei shows up at my office. I knew I didn't have a redemption for it, but I sure did like it as I am a die-hard White Sox fan. I honestly had to log in to see what it was for, and what it replaced. 2 years and nearly 3 months later I did get a significantly better card, but should I have had to wait two years? I shouldn't have had to wait 2 days. Redemption cards are sometimes necessary, but let's face it redemption cards, unless they are for future cards or rookies or something that doesn't fit in a box, yeah they suck.

  1. Considering it's Upper Deck, it's lucky you got anything without having to fight with them for months.

  2. Been there, done that. I know it's not easy and that's why redemptions need to go bye-bye.
